Has the Value of Your Prayer Life Gone Up?

There are all types of almost unbelievable stats and stories that have come from this pandemic. Unfortunately, not many are good news. Yet, some segments of life are benefiting from COVID 19. It is an excellent time to be in the chocolate business.

Marketwatch had this to say about chocolate: LINK

"That's good news for the many people who've been turning to sweet, sweet chocolate during the coronavirus outbreak. In fact, Americans spent $3.7 billion on chocolate in the 17-week period that ended June 27, which is up 6.3% from the same window last year, Nielsen reported. And while dark chocolate sales were up 13.6%, milk chocolate has proven to be the sweet most people are sinking their teeth into during the pandemic, with Americans dropping $2.9 billion on it."

Chocolate is one of the world's favorite foods and a 100 Billion dollar business.

Those stats are not really surprising since chocolate is a go-to people turn to for comfort. People are looking for comfort. This is why chocolate sales are going up in value. What about your prayer life? Has that gone up in value? I have never witnessed a time where there was so much uncertainty. The financial uncertainty is almost overwhelming as you watch people struggle financially. Yet, we sometimes forget God wants us to take everything....everything to Him in prayer.

Just the other day, I caught myself worrying about something and thought to myself - How often have I prayed about this? Unfortunately, the answer was not enough.

The Apostle Paul wrote these words about prayer:

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6-7

It doesn't come any more direct than that. Do not fear....take everything (not just some things-everything) to God in prayer. Once you do that, you will get a sense of peace that you can't understand, and God will grant you a hedge of protection over your spirit and your thoughts in Christ.

For people with a sweet tooth, chocolate has its place. Just don't forget that only prayer will give you the ultimate in peace and comfort. In all times (not just during the uncertain times), increase the value you place on prayer. The value of prayer is not so much about asking for things as it is more about a relationship with Christ. That relationship carries the highest value!
