How to Deal With Financial Stress
A thriving wallet study had this to say about financial stress in a recently released survey:
90% of individuals say that money has an impact on their stress level.
Roughly 65% report feeling that their financial difficulties are piling up so much that they can't overcome them.
Roughly 40% report that they are currently taking no notable steps to secure their financial future.
There are a lot of dynamics that can stress you out when it comes to money. I think 2 of the 3 statistics above paint an accurate story of how people feel about money in America. I say 2 of 3 because the third statistic should be much higher say 60 to 70%. Having said that, the third statistic points out the problem in America. Here is what I am trying to say.
Planning and addressing the financial stress head on is the one sure way of reducing or eliminating the stress. For example, I see people stress about not being able to retire. They will claim that they can't retire or that they will never have enough. I will ask how do you know? I just know is the answer I will get. The irony is that you can't know for sure if you don't put a plan together. 9 times out of 10 people can create a good retirement plan. Unfortunately, they just wrongly assume that it is not possible. The unknowns are what create the stress not the reality.
Maybe you are facing a debt problem. Get a game plan versus ignoring it and just making the minimum payments each month.
What does the Bible say about dealing with stress? Philippians 4:6-7 says this:
6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Don't worry, pray about it, be thankful for your current situation, and God will guard your minds and your hearts with peace that goes beyond our earthly understanding. If you truly believe through Faith, that is a promise. Whatever you're worrying about when it comes to money take the steps to eliminate the stress.
